South Fork Report – 7.24.2011

The combined inflow into Palisades Reservoir is steadily dropping, and the Bureau of Rec has responded by dropping the release out of the dam. Currently it is at 17, 400 cfs. and we should continue to see this drop. If the the Bureau continues to drop the flow by 1,000 cfs. or so a day, we could be down to normal summer fishing flows on the South Fork within the week… Continue reading

Henry’s Fork Fishing Report – 7.7.2011

The Harriman Ranch section of the Henry’s Fork is really showing its true potential. We are seeing some fantastic spinner falls early in the morning followed by the Green Drakes around 10. As the hatches taper off when the wind comes up, look for some bank feeders picking off bugs in the scum lines… Continue reading

This is more of a water flow update than a fishing report. Just as the South Fork was beginning to fish again, with good numbers of Yellow Sallies and PMDs being seen, the Bureau of Rec has increased the flow out of Palisades Dam again to 22,900 cfs… Continue reading

South Fork/Henry’s Fork 6.23.2011

As you can probably surmise from the recommended flies above, the South Fork is still big and pretty dirty. Some reports have drifted in of success with deep nymphing rigs using bright flies such as the ones suggested above, but suffice to say that the South Fork is still not exactly in good shape for fishing.
