Our Story

Established in 1974, High Country Flies has been serving the needs of fly fishers in one of the great trout fly fishing Mecca’s of the world for over 35 years.

In 2011, we combined forces with another classic Jackson establishment and moved into the Jack Dennis Outdoors building. Our year-round downtown shop is centrally located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, one hour south of Yellowstone National Park, one hour east of the Henry’s Fork, one hour north of the Green River and just minutes from the Snake River and Grand Teton National Park. In 2012, High Country Flies opened a second, seasonal location in Teton Village to better serve the growing needs of anglers on the West Bank.

Being so centrally located has given us a unique perspective on the sport of fly fishing due to the sheer number and diversity of opportunities those of us lucky enough to live here enjoy. From brawling freestoners to placid spring creeks, we’ve seen it all and we’ve fished it all.

The High Country Flies reputation has been founded on two fundamental principles – quality and service. Everything we sell must gain our personal seal of approval. If it doesn’t, you won’t find it on our web site or in our fly shop.

A natural extension of our emphasis on quality is our attitude towards service. We back what we sell and our knowledgeable staff can answer your questions and/or provide information regarding any product we offer.

Our Philosophy

High Country Flies strives to further our customers knowledge of fly fishing etiquette, conservation and environmental issues as well as the ‘whys’ and ‘wherefores’ of fly fishing gear.  Not only does this ensure our customers are better and more knowledgeable fishermen, it enhances the image of our favorite pastime to the benefit of all.
