Howard Cole – Store Manager

Howard Cole’s contributions to the rich culture of Jackson Hole fly fishing are many. As an instructor for André Puyan’s Fly Fishing school on the Henry’s Fork for a number of years, Howard was responsible for helping many anglers take their skills to the next level. Howard’s fly tying skill is well known and his original fly patterns, such as his U-con emerger and Lite Bright Serendipity, have become standards in many Yellowstone region fly boxes. Howard is also an excellent resource for two-handed casting techniques and spey/ switch rod equipment.

 Scott Sanchez – Store Manager

One of the best known modern fly tiers in the country, Scott started fly fishing and tying at the age of 12. He grew up in Salt Lake City and tested his self-taught skills  on the trout of the Wasatch Front. At age 14 he taught his first fly tying class. Scott is responsible for many well-known patterns, such as the Double Bunny and the Convertible, among others. He is the author of three books – A New Generation of Trout Flies, Tying Saltwater Flies, and The Never-Ending Stream – a Tribute to Fly Tying Form and Function, in addition to numerous magazine articles, and is a regular contributor to American Angler magazine.

Bruce Smithhammer – Outfitting Manager

Bruce has been involved with HCF in a variety of roles, from sales to full-time guide, since 2006. He currently oversees our outfitting program in addition to handling our website and promotional efforts, and continuing to guide/instruct throughout the season. When not making sure that every aspect of your trip is running smoothly, he’s usually out on the carp flats, or chasing birds with his favorite shorthair pointer, Hank.

Brad Schwarm – Retail Manager

Brad has been with High Country Flies since 1994, and oversees the retail side of our operation. He is our resident spring creek technician and can usually be found on the Ranch section of the Henry’s Fork when he’s not at the shop. Brad is also a professional photographer, and many of the images seen on our website are his. To see more of Brad’s work, click here.

Hunter Heumann – Sales Associate

Hunter is new to the HCF crew this season.  He is a native of New Orleans, LA where he grew up chasing seatrout and redfish with his father.  After working at other fly shops in both saltwater and trout fishing destinations, he has ended up in Jackson Hole where he enjoys spending his days off camping out and fishing on the South Fork of the Snake River as well as fishing a number of other rivers in the surrounding areas.  Hunter also enjoys skiing in the winter as well as chasing monster redfish on fly back in Southern Louisiana.

Maggie Jordan – Sales Associate

Maggie has been with HCF since 2009. A native of Alabama, Maggie fell in love with the Jackson area as a kid when her parents brought her out during summers. She now lives full-time in Jackson and gets out on the river every chance she gets. An early love of fly fishing led her to pursue degrees in Entomology and Poultry Science, making her our resident bug and hackle expert.

Ursus and Tri0 – Welcoming Committee

We can only speak for ourselves here, but a fly shop that doesn’t have at least one dog on staff always makes us a bit suspicious. Ursus, our resident giant Lab, loves treats, swimming and retrieving. We know – shocking, right? And Trio is our little spaniel, loved by everyone unless you happen to be an upland game bird. Both of them have logged more hours on the river, patiently staring at their owners, than any dog probably should.
